Soybeans saw significant declines on Turnaround Tuesday, with losses ranging from 14 ½ to 22 ½ cents, particularly affecting the front-month contracts. The downturn extended to related products, as Soymeal futures dropped between $4.20 and $7.50 per ton. Soy Oil futures were pressured by a sharp fall in crude oil prices, resulting in losses of 69 to 86 points.

The upcoming Crop Production report is expected to reveal a modest increase in yield, rising to 53.3 bushels per acre. Harvested acres are anticipated to remain unchanged this month, with a projected production total of 4.595 billion bushels, marking a 6 million bushels increase from August. Projections for US carryout suggest a slight reduction in old crop bean stocks, estimated at 343 million bushels, while new crop stocks are expected to grow by 8 million bushels to 568 million bushels.

Crop Progress data indicates that condition ratings are holding steady at 65% good/excellent, with the Brugler500 index at 365. Among states, Illinois showed an improvement of 8 points, North Dakota increased by 5 points, and Ohio and Iowa saw a 3-point rise. Conversely, Nebraska experienced a 7-point drop, Minnesota was down 5 points, South Dakota fell by 2 points, and Illinois declined by 1 point.

Additionally, Chinese imports of soybeans reached 12.14 million metric tons in August, reflecting a 29% increase compared to the same month last year.
