In a move to further enhance local commerce, DoorDash has announced an expanded partnership with Wegmans Food Markets, Inc., allowing grocery delivery from all Wegmans locations in Maryland through its platform. This development marks a significant step in DoorDash’s efforts to grow its grocery delivery services, which have seen unprecedented demand. Stores in Virginia, North Carolina, New Jersey, Delaware, and upstate New York are expected to be added shortly, with even more locations on the horizon.

This partnership builds upon the existing collaboration between DoorDash and Wegmans’ Meals 2GO program, which has successfully delivered a variety of hot and fresh meal options directly to customers’ homes. By integrating Wegmans into the DoorDash Marketplace, consumers can now access a wider range of grocery items, ensuring that they have the convenience of grocery shopping at their fingertips.

Fuad Hannon, Vice President of New Verticals at DoorDash, emphasized the rapid growth of the company’s grocery business. “As noted recently, DoorDash’s grocery business is growing fast with consumers that order from new verticals reaching all-time highs. This is largely due to our commitment to bring the best of every local community online, and Wegmans embodies that,” he said. The partnership aims to extend Wegmans’ well-regarded brand and quality offerings to a broader audience.

Wegmans has consistently been ranked as one of the best grocery stores in the United States, known for its unique selection that includes flavorful restaurant-quality meals, artisan breads, fresh produce, and a diverse range of cheeses sourced globally. This reputation makes Wegmans a perfect fit for DoorDash’s platform, where customers can feel confident in the quality of food they are ordering for their meals.

Erica Tickle, Wegmans Vice President of Marketing and Digital Growth, commented on the partnership, stating, “DoorDash has been a great partner for our Meals 2GO program, and expanding our offering to include grocery delivery allows us to meet our customers where they are.” She further noted that the goal of Wegmans is to make meals easier for customers, helping them live healthier and better lives through exceptional food. The expansion of their delivery network is a key part of fulfilling that mission.

To celebrate the launch of grocery delivery from Wegmans, DoorDash is offering customers a 40% discount on all eligible orders of $50 or more (up to $25) with the promo code WEGMANS, valid at all participating locations until October 31, 2024. Additionally, Wegmans is available on DashPass, DoorDash’s membership program, which provides members with a $0 delivery fee and reduced service fees on eligible orders from thousands of restaurants, grocery stores, and convenience shops across the country.

Since launching on-demand grocery delivery in 2020, DoorDash has continuously empowered grocery stores with the tools and technology necessary to reach both new and loyal customers, enhancing their shopping experience and accessibility. With this expanded partnership, DoorDash is poised to deliver even greater convenience and quality to consumers looking to streamline their grocery shopping.
