SulNOx, the Greentech innovation company focused on helping industries reduce fuel costs, emissions, and meet sustainability targets, has announced the successful acquisition of a new patent in Malaysia. This patent builds upon SulNOx's expanding intellectual property portfolio, which already includes patents in major global markets.
The new patent covers a range of formulation versions, including Berol® 6446 Heavy Sulphur Fuel Oils (HSFO) emulsifiers and SulNOxEco™ Fuel Conditioners. These products are designed to enhance diesel, petrol/gasoline, biofuels, and marine fuels, such as Marine Gas Oil (MGO), Marine Diesel Oil (MDO), Very Low and Ultra Low Sulphur Fuel Oils (VLSFO/ULSFO), and HSFO.
Malaysia’s significance in SulNOx’s strategic expansion is noteworthy, as it serves as a key hub for the company’s growth in Southeast Asia. The company has already secured patents in neighboring Indonesia and Singapore, and this new patent further strengthens its position in the region. SulNOx anticipates that this move will unlock revenue opportunities with major industrial groups in Malaysia and nearby countries.
The maritime industry in Malaysia plays a vital role in the national economy, contributing about 40% to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The country boasts nearly 3,000 miles of coastline and eight major ports, with Port Klang ranking as the 12th largest port globally. The presence of large oil tanker and LNG carrier operators positions Malaysia as a significant market for SulNOx’s products. Additionally, Malaysia’s extensive road network of over 180,000 miles also faces significant decarbonisation challenges, presenting further opportunities for SulNOx’s fuel solutions.
Ben Richardson, CEO of SulNOx, shared his excitement about the new patent, stating: “Our Malaysia patent is an important piece of the jigsaw for us in Southeast Asia and a welcome addition to a growing portfolio. SulNOx has identified several opportunities in this exciting market, where many large industrial players are under pressure to meet tough sustainability goals while working hard to reduce fuel costs. We are encouraged by the potential to deploy our zero-capex solutions at scale across key sectors in Malaysia and its neighbours in the region.”
