Leadership Transition at Darktrace
Cybersecurity firm Darktrace PLC (LSE:DARK) has announced that Poppy Gustafsson has stepped down from her role as chief executive with immediate effect. She has been succeeded by Jill Popelka, who will also join the company's board of directors. Popelka, who brings over twenty years of experience from leadership roles at major technology firms such as Accenture, Snap Inc (NYSE), and SAP SuccessFactors, initially joined Darktrace in January 2024 as a non-executive director before becoming chief operating officer in June.
Comments from Former CEO and Acquisition Progress
Gustafsson, who co-founded Darktrace with the late British tech icon Mike Lynch, expressed pride in her tenure and gratitude for leading the team. "Darktrace has been a huge part of my life and my identity for over a decade and I am immensely proud of everything we have achieved in that time,” Gustafsson stated.
Thoma Bravo partner Andrew Almeida expressed support for the leadership transition. “We are fully supportive of Poppy and the board's succession plan,” Almeida noted. He added that the acquisition of Darktrace by Thoma Bravo is advancing as expected. While all antitrust and regulatory approvals have been received, one final foreign regulatory approval is anticipated by 28 September 2024.
