As we are inching closer to the final month of the year, a bunch of supermarkets, online retailers and e-commerce giants have announced flashy and lucrative deals ahead of the festivities of Christmas and year-ender holidays. Supermarkets including Aldi, Tesco, Sainsbury and Asda have been offering discounted products on sale to cash in the heavy spending stretch during Black Friday. Most of the people like to shop their respective wish list during the sales offered before the Christmas festival.
Aldi
Products from technology, gadgets and gaming categories have been put on sale by Aldi on the Black Friday 2020. The bargain deals are available throughout the week on Aldi including the ‘Specialbuys’ on Thursday and Sunday. Further, Aldi has decided to open the stores for extended hours in the run-up to Christmas, following the safety instructions mandated by the government in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Aldi stores will remain open until 6 pm on the Christmas eve across the UK following the respective local restrictions. Aldi has also been trying to capture the shoppers through online channels around Christmas, a decision that could help the enterprise to maximise the sales before the season. For the ease of customers, Aldi UK has declared the extension of click-and-collect trial to more than 200 stores by Christmas.
Tesco
Tesco has also placed multiple Black Friday and Christmas offers on display including products such as bedding, DIY, stationary, video games, Christmas lights, gadgets and electricals. Tesco has also incorporated the facility of click-and-collect in as many as 400 stores with a minimal waiting time of an hour. For availing the facility of click-and-collect from Tesco UK, customers are required to spend at least £25. Further, the retailer has introduced a system of bagless deliveries. Tesco is charging a fee of £2 per order from the customers on their first order.
Sainsbury
Sainsbury, however, has not announced any Black Friday offers. The London-headquartered largest chain of supermarkets has declared separate bargain deals on champagne, sparkling wine and wine on the purchase of a minimum of six bottles until 13 December. Under the offer, customers can avail a discount up to 25 per cent on selected range of bottles excluding those under £5 in England or £7 in Wales.
The offer is not applicable in Scotland and selected stores across the UK, while Wales has minimum unit pricing on the bottles. The discount of up to 25 per cent excludes Sainsbury’s House wine, boxed wine, gift sets, bottles under 200 ml and fortified wine.
Asda
The Leeds-based supermarket retailer Asda has disclosed a bouquet of deals to encash the customer spending around Black Friday as well as Christmas. Asda is also offering a discount of 25 per cent on the bottles of wine, sparkling and champagne on the purchase of six or more bottles. The offer is floated on 75cl and 1.5 litre bottles that are priced above £4.50 before delivery on 7 December.
Under this offer, customers can save 25 per cent discount on non-promotional prices and an extra 25 per cent off on promotional prices as well. The offer is not applicable in Scotland and Wales, and a maximum of 10 bottles can be purchased of the same product per order subject to the availability, Asda said.
