Highlights:
- Fuel Testing Initiative: Quadrise to test its MSAR® and bioMSAR™ fuels at Sparkle Power's El Giral 50MW power plant in Panama.
- Environmental and Economic Goals: The trial aims to showcase cost savings and emissions reductions compared to traditional fuel oil.
- Strategic Expansion: Successful trials could pave the way for a commercial supply agreement and a production facility in Panama.
Quadrise PLC (LSE:QED), the alternative fuels specialist, has announced a collaboration with Sparkle Power SA, a thermal power producer in Colón, Panama, to conduct a groundbreaking trial of its innovative MSAR® and bioMSAR™ fuels. The trial, taking place at the 50MW El Giral power plant, will evaluate the feasibility of replacing traditional fuel oil with Quadrise’s cleaner, cost-effective alternatives.
Details of the Initiative
The trial will involve the installation of a 5-tonne-per-hour multifuel manufacturing unit at the El Giral site. This facility will support a week-long test on a MAN Energy 4-stroke diesel engine, assessing the technical and economic performance of the MSAR® and bioMSAR™ fuels. The primary goal is to demonstrate that these emulsified fuels can deliver significant reductions in costs, emissions, and greenhouse gases, making them a viable alternative to conventional fuel oil.
Quadrise's MSAR® and bioMSAR™ are advanced emulsion fuels that blend hydrocarbons with water and other additives to enhance combustion efficiency and reduce environmental impact. These solutions are particularly suited for applications in power generation and marine transportation, sectors that are under increasing pressure to adopt cleaner energy solutions.
Leadership Statements
“We are delighted to be working with Sparkle Power in Panama,” said Jason Miles, Quadrise’s chief executive. “This trial offers an opportunity to validate the economic and environmental advantages of our fuel solutions, while also gaining valuable experience with a MAN Energy 4-stroke diesel engine. Following a successful trial, we aim to negotiate commercial supply terms and potentially establish a production facility in Panama.”
Jose Castillo, Sparkle Power’s general manager, expressed optimism about the partnership, stating, “We hope that MSAR® and bioMSAR™ will deliver the expected results, paving the way for commercial implementation in Panama.”
Strategic Significance
Panama, a hub for fuel oil sales and marine bunkering in Central America, presents a strategic opportunity for Quadrise to expand its footprint. A successful trial could lead to a commercial supply agreement with Sparkle Power and the development of a local manufacturing facility. This would not only support Panama's transition to cleaner energy but also enhance Quadrise’s presence in the region.
Market Momentum
Quadrise shares have surged by 190% over the past month, reflecting strong investor confidence in its innovative fuel solutions and expanding global partnerships. The trial with Sparkle Power is expected to further solidify its position as a leader in sustainable energy technologies.
Looking Ahead
With the El Giral trial set to commence shortly, Quadrise is positioning itself to capitalize on the growing demand for cleaner, cost-effective energy solutions. A successful outcome could serve as a blueprint for broader adoption of MSAR® and bioMSAR™ fuels across the region, reinforcing Quadrise’s commitment to driving environmental and economic sustainability in the energy sector.
