Highlights:

  • Drilling suspended due to severe weather: Adverse conditions at Colorado’s Galactica-Pegasus site delay operations until mid-January.
  • No impact on overall timeline: Helium One confirms the project remains on track for first-half 2025 production.
  • Engineering advancements underway: Preparations continue for CO2 removal, purification, and helium processing.

Helium One Global Ltd (LSE:HE1, OTCQB:HLOGF) has announced a temporary suspension of drilling activities at the Galactica-Pegasus development project in Colorado, USA, citing severe weather conditions. Blue Star Helium Ltd (ASX:BNL, OTC:BSNLF), the project operator, confirmed that unfavorable ground conditions have made construction of well sites and road access unfeasible.

Drilling Rescheduled for January 2025

In light of the current challenges, Blue Star has postponed the start of drilling to mid-January 2025, aligning with improved weather forecasts and to avoid standby costs during the holiday season. Helium One, holding a 50% interest in the project, emphasized that the delay is not expected to impact the overall project development timeline or its goal of commencing production in the first half of 2025.

Operational Adjustments and Mitigation

To mitigate the impact of the suspension, work continues on key engineering tasks associated with CO2 removal, purification, and the preparation of helium processing systems. These efforts include optimizing the IACX helium recovery unit, which plays a pivotal role in the project’s production workflow.

Operator’s Statement

Blue Star Helium noted that the decision to reschedule drilling reflects both the practical challenges posed by the weather and a commitment to cost-effective project management. The operator expressed optimism about resuming activities once conditions stabilize, ensuring minimal disruption to the broader project timeline.

Helium One’s Commitment to Timely Delivery

Helium One reaffirmed its commitment to the development timeline, emphasizing that the temporary suspension is a prudent step to safeguard resources and ensure optimal project execution. The company highlighted the continued progress on essential preparatory work, which positions the Galactica-Pegasus project to meet its production targets.

Looking Ahead

With a focus on strategic adjustments and proactive engineering, Helium One and its operator remain confident in advancing the Galactica-Pegasus project. As drilling resumes in January 2025, the collaboration is set to capitalize on its extensive planning and preparation, maintaining its trajectory toward operational success in the burgeoning helium market.
