Helium One Global Ltd (LSE:HE1) has announced that it has applied for a mining license in Tanzania for its southern Rukwa helium project. The application has been submitted to the Tanzanian Ministry of Minerals and the Mining Commission and includes a comprehensive feasibility study that addresses subsurface modeling and a commercial development plan. Additionally, the environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) study has been completed and is pending approval from the National Environmental Management Council.
Chief Executive Officer Lorna Blaisse highlighted this application as a significant milestone in the advancement of the project. She noted that the past year has been notably productive for Helium One, marked by a successful helium discovery, the completion of a detailed feasibility study, the establishment of a commercial development plan, and the submission of the mining license application. Blaisse expressed gratitude for the contributions of all involved in achieving these accomplishments within a relatively short timeframe.
The company also reported the expiration of 888 square kilometers of prospecting licenses (PLs) that were deemed non-prospective or difficult to access. This decision is anticipated to result in a reduction of annual license fees. Helium One continues to retain 286 square kilometers of licenses within the Eyasi Rift Basin, which remain under review for their helium potential.
In addition to its activities in Tanzania, Helium One is expanding its portfolio through a joint venture with Blue Star Helium in Colorado. This collaboration is expected to enter a new phase with the acquisition and initiation of drilling operations on the Galactica-Pegasus project. Updates on the progress of this drilling program will be provided as developments occur. Blaisse emphasized the company’s ongoing efforts to advance projects both within Tanzania and internationally, reflecting its strategic focus on diversifying its operations and pursuing further opportunities.
