Fulcrum Metals reports positive assay results from new auger sites at its Teck-Hughes and Sylvanite gold tailings projects.
Silver and tellurium grades in the tailings could offer valuable by-products, with tellurium being recognized as a critical mineral in Canada.
Phase 1 testing on Sylvanite tailings continues with promising metallurgical and assay results, including significant grades of gold and tellurium.
Fulcrum Metals plc (LSE:FMET) focused on mineral exploration and development in Canada, has provided a positive update on its Teck-Hughes and Sylvanite gold tailings projects, located in Ontario’s Kirkland Lake area. The company has reported promising assay results from new auger sites, indicating significant potential in the tailings material.
At the Teck-Hughes Gold Tailings Project, four new auger sites have returned average grades of 0.65g/t gold, 1.3g/t silver, and 13g/t tellurium. The inclusion of silver and tellurium – with tellurium recognized as a critical mineral in Canada – presents an opportunity to enhance the project further by potentially generating by-product credits. The company is expanding its auger hole sampling, targeting 16 additional sites for further data collection and resource evaluation.
At the Sylvanite Gold Tailings Project, six new auger sites returned average grades of 0.58g/t gold, 1.1g/t silver, and 13.9g/t tellurium. Duplicates of seven resampled sites have been sent for phase 1 processing with Extrakt Process Solutions LLC, yielding results in line with historical data. The company is also conducting phase 1 testing using Extrakt’s proprietary technology, including metallurgical analysis and batch leach testing, to better understand the extraction potential of the tailings material.
The company's management noted the advantages of reprocessing these historical tailings deposits, as they are surface-level resources from material already mined and milled, reducing the need for new discoveries or extensive infrastructure. Fulcrum has also highlighted the potential for expanding the project with mechanized auger drilling permits in preparation.
Fulcrum continues to make progress on both projects, with strong support from local stakeholders and positive test results that could enhance the value of the gold tailings. The company remains committed to advancing its workstreams in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner.
