Atlantic Lithium Ltd (LSE:ALL) has received the environmental permit from Ghana’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the Ewoyaa lithium project. This permit marks a significant milestone in the project's permitting process, officially authorizing the company's proposed activities.
The permit follows the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) submission, which incorporated feedback from the EPA and addressed concerns raised during two public hearings. These hearings underscored strong local support for the project, highlighting the company's commitment to engaging with the community and addressing their concerns.
Neil Herbert, Executive Chairman of Atlantic Lithium, emphasized that the granting of the EPA permit represents a major advancement towards establishing Ghana's first lithium mine. The process involved extensive collaboration with both the EPA and local stakeholders to ensure alignment with the project’s objectives. Herbert noted that this approval reflects Atlantic Lithium's dedication to responsible land stewardship, which is seen as crucial for the project's long-term success.
The successful acquisition of the environmental permit confirms the project's adherence to regulatory standards and community expectations, positioning Atlantic Lithium to proceed with the development of the Ewoyaa lithium project. The company remains focused on maintaining strong relationships with local communities and regulatory bodies as it moves forward with construction plans.
