PPHE Hotel Group (LSE:PPH), a leading international hospitality real estate company, has announced a significant milestone with the recent granting of planning permission for a new mixed-use hotel-led development in London's South Bank area. This project marks a strategic expansion for the company and highlights its commitment to innovation and sustainability in hospitality.
New Development Details
The approved plans outline the creation of a 15-storey design-led mid-scale hotel, featuring up to 186 rooms. In addition to the hotel, the development will include two floors of office and light industrial space. A key feature of the project is the flexible use ground floor, which will house an all-day dining bar and café, creating a vibrant public space for both guests and local residents.
The building’s design will emphasize sustainability, transforming a former brownfield site into a modern, eco-friendly structure. The development aims to achieve a BREEAM 'Excellent' environmental accreditation, reflecting PPHE's dedication to high standards of environmental performance and sustainability.
Prime Location and Strategic Significance
Situated on Westminster Bridge Road, directly opposite Lambeth North Station, the site offers convenient access to London's major landmarks, cultural attractions, and transport links. This location is ideal for both tourists and business travelers, reinforcing PPHE's strategic focus on high-demand areas.
This new development will be PPHE's fifth hotel in the Waterloo area, enhancing the company's presence in one of London’s most dynamic and popular districts. The area is renowned for its cultural vibrancy and appeal to both visitors and corporate clients.
Investment and Future Plans
PPHE acquired the site in 2019 for £12 million and is currently working on detailed project designs. The company plans to provide further updates on the investment and development timeline as the project progresses.
The new development exemplifies PPHE’s successful 'buy, build, operate' business model and its ongoing commitment to expanding its footprint in London. The project not only represents a significant investment but also reinforces PPHE’s role as a major player in the hospitality industry.
