Hutchmed China (LSE:HCM) has announced that it will present new and updated clinical trial data at two major oncology conferences: the 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC24) in San Diego and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress 2024 in Barcelona.
The AIM-traded company will showcase results from studies involving several of its compounds, with a focus on lung and gastrointestinal cancers.
At WCLC24, Hutchmed will present findings from the ‘FLOWERS’ study, a phase two clinical trial examining the combination of osimertinib and savolitinib in patients with advanced EGFR-mutated, MET-aberrant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Preliminary data from this study, which included two patient cohorts, indicated that the combination therapy produced significantly better outcomes compared to osimertinib alone. In the second cohort receiving the combination therapy, the objective response rate (ORR) was 90.5%, compared to 60.9% in the monotherapy group. Additionally, the combination therapy achieved a higher disease control rate (DCR) of 95.2%, while the monotherapy yielded a DCR of 87%. Although progression-free survival (PFS) data remains preliminary, the combination therapy demonstrated a median PFS of 19.6 months, compared to 9.3 months for the monotherapy. Both treatments exhibited manageable safety profiles in line with expectations.
At the ESMO Congress 2024, Hutchmed will present further analyses from other key trials, including the FRESCO-2 study of fruquintinib in metastatic colorectal cancer and the FRUTIGA study in gastric cancer. Additionally, a biomarker study of savolitinib in gastric cancer and several investigator-initiated studies involving fruquintinib and surufatinib will be featured.
As of 1054 BST, shares in Hutchmed China had risen by 0.76% to 264p.
