Good Energy Group (LSE:GOOD) has announced a strategic partnership between its electric vehicle (EV) charging app subsidiary Zapmap and Hive, the eco-tech arm of Centrica, aimed at enhancing EV charging solutions both at home and on the road.
This collaboration, revealed on Monday, will see new Hive EV customers benefit from £20 of charging credit for use at thousands of Zap Pay-enabled chargers across the UK, starting in 2025. The partnership aims to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles for over one million customers within the next three years.
Expanding EV Charging Capabilities
The partnership will integrate the platforms of Zapmap and Hive, allowing for enhanced features such as tracking both home and public EV charging via the Hive app. This integration will also offer customers flexible payment options, including the ability to pay through their household energy bills.
Hive’s SmartCharge product will play a pivotal role in this partnership, enabling EV owners to reduce costs by charging their vehicles during cheaper energy periods. This feature is expected to enhance the appeal of home charging solutions for Hive customers, further supporting the shift towards greener energy use.
Ambitious Goals for EV Transition
The partnership is not only aimed at making EV charging more convenient but also at driving broader adoption of electric vehicles and renewable energy. Nigel Pocklington, chief executive officer of Good Energy Group, emphasized that this partnership highlights the significant role that Zapmap plays in simplifying EV charging for users. "EVs and related products such as home charging are a major gateway for customer adoption of renewable energy solutions that can help accelerate decentralised clean power,” Pocklington said.

Following the announcement, shares in Good Energy Group saw a notable rise, climbing 6.17% to 280.3p by 1332 BST. The partnership marks a significant step for both Zapmap and Hive in leading the development of integrated and user-friendly EV charging solutions, a key part of the UK’s green energy transition.
