Description
Chariot Ltd {LSE:CHAR} is an Africa-focused transitional energy group with a robust portfolio comprising Transitional Gas, Transitional Power, and Green Hydrogen sectors. The Transitional Gas segment centers on a promising development project offshore Morocco, designed to provide a clear path to early monetization and positive cash flow, alongside significant exploration potential.
In its recent interim results, CEO Adonis Pouroulis addressed the unexpected outcomes from the Anchois project, particularly the disappointing results from the Anchois-3 well. Following this setback, the company's shares experienced a decline of over 70% in market value. Pouroulis emphasized the importance of post-well analysis and the intention to collaborate closely with joint venture partners to devise a forward plan for the project. Despite the challenges, he remains optimistic about the potential within the Anchois field and the broader license areas of Lixus and Rissana.
The company concluded its drilling campaign at the Anchois-3 well, which reached a depth of 3,045 meters in 349 meters of water. Following the unsuccessful pilot hole test, operations have shifted to the main appraisal sidetrack.
Chariot's efforts in the Transitional Power sector aim to deliver competitive and sustainable energy solutions throughout Africa. Additionally, the company is advancing its Green Hydrogen initiatives, partnering with Total Eren and the Mauritanian government on Project Nour, which envisions the development of a 10GW green hydrogen project.
Recent reports indicated that Chariot successfully raised funds through share sales to support its ongoing projects, including plans for the Anchois gas development. As the company navigates these challenges, its strategic focus remains on enhancing its capabilities across its diverse energy portfolio, positioning it for future growth in the transitional energy landscape.
