Highlights:
- Target Depth Reached: Arrow Exploration successfully drilled the AB-1 well on the Tapir Block to a depth of 9,960 feet.
- Hydrocarbon Discovery: Four hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs — C7, Gacheta, Guadalupe, and Ubaque — were encountered with 121 feet of total depth.
- Next Steps Planned: Production testing will begin shortly, followed by drilling of the AB-2 follow-up well.
Arrow Exploration Corp (TSX-V:AXL, LSE:AXL, OTC:CSTPF) has announced the successful completion of drilling at its Alberta Llanos-1 (AB-1) exploration well located in the Tapir Block of Colombia's Llanos Basin. Reaching a measured depth of 9,960 feet on December 13, the well targets a large three-way fault-bounded structure with multiple reservoir objectives.
Initial log interpretations confirm the presence of hydrocarbons across four key reservoirs: C7, Gacheta, Guadalupe, and Ubaque. Arrow reported a total true vertical depth of 121 feet for the hydrocarbon-bearing intervals, reinforcing the well's potential for production and reserves growth.
Marshall Abbott, Arrow’s chief executive, expressed confidence in the results, describing them as a significant step forward for the company’s operations. “The success of this well could result in additional production, additional reserves, and a new core area for Arrow with further development opportunities,” Abbott stated.
The AB-1 well’s discovery highlights notable potential for horizontal well exploitation, particularly in the Guadalupe and Ubaque reservoirs. Arrow plans to commence production testing in the coming days, which will confirm the commercial viability of the reservoirs. Once completed, the company will immediately mobilize the Petroworks rig to drill a second well, AB-2, to further appraise and develop the newly identified resources.
The Tapir Block, situated in Colombia’s Llanos Basin, is one of Arrow Exploration’s key assets. The company remains focused on high-growth opportunities across Colombia’s hydrocarbon-rich basins, with the success of AB-1 positioning the region as a significant new core area.
With ongoing production testing and further drilling activity scheduled, Arrow is well-positioned to capitalize on the resource potential of the AB-1 discovery, delivering strategic growth within its Colombian operations.
