Shares on the European stock market opened higher on Tuesday (Feb 04, 2020), extending their recovery from an unprecedent selloff witnessed last week that was led by concerns over a coronavirus outbreak in China, with the basic resources sector leading the gains.

The broader equity gauge of the London Stock Exchange, the FTSE 100 surged 108.12 points or 1.48% higher at 7,434.43, and the FTSE 250 index nudged 255.16 points or 1.21% to 21,416.01.

A similar trend was experienced in the AIM segment of the UK stock market, with the FTSE AIM UK 50 moving up 68.26 points or 1.28% to 5,405.27, the FTSE AIM 100 surging 58.61 points or 1.21% to 4,924.28 and the FTSE AIM All-Share Index increasing 8.22 points or 0.86% to 959.60, respectively.

However, there were several FTSE AIM segment counters which significantly outperformed and underperformed the broader trend in the FTSE AIM indices. Here, we are sharing a list of top five FTSE AIM movers and laggards of the day (before the market close).
