Highlights
Oriole Resources has reported over one hundred gold intersections from early-stage drilling at the Mbe project in Cameroon.
The company has achieved one gold-bearing intersection approximately every twenty metres drilled.
Phase one of the drilling campaign is past the halfway mark, with data informing future resource estimates.
The mining sector, especially the gold exploration segment, plays a key role within the broader resource industry. Companies engaged in early-stage drilling and discovery activities contribute to mineral resource development and long-term supply chains. Oriole Resources PLC, listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) under the ticker ORR, operates within this segment and is part of the FTSE AIM 100 Index.
Exploration Progress at the Mbe Gold Project
Oriole Resources has announced ongoing exploration work at its Mbe gold project in Cameroon. The first phase of the company’s drill programme has produced over one hundred gold-bearing intersections, indicating sustained mineralisation across the drill-tested area.
Among the recent drilling updates, two key holes, MBDD007 and MBDD008, have delivered further intersections. These additions bring the total number of gold-bearing intervals to more than one hundred from the first eight drill holes. The results show continuity of gold mineralisation across multiple depths and zones.
Reported Intersections and Drilling Depth
Drill hole MBDD008 revealed a broad mineralised zone, starting from shallow depth and extending over a significant length. Within this stretch, a high-grade zone was also recorded. Similarly, hole MBDD007 confirmed additional zones with consistent mineral presence deeper below the surface.
As of the latest report, Oriole Resources has completed drilling over two thousand metres at the Mbe site. The reported frequency of intersections suggests that a mineralised system may be present throughout the tested geological structure. The drilling campaign maintains an approximate ratio of one intersection for every twenty metres drilled.
Status of the Phase One Campaign
The phase one drilling programme has surpassed the halfway point, with more than three thousand metres completed across a dozen holes. This campaign is designed to assess the extent, depth, and nature of mineralisation within the broader project area.
The drilling sequence has followed a systematic approach, focusing on zones where initial surface sampling indicated mineralised structures. These findings are being used to guide subsequent drill placements and to help define the scale of the resource area.
Share Price Activity Linked to Project Updates
Following the public release of these drilling results, Oriole Resources’ share price on the AIM market recorded a notable increase. This price movement has coincided with wider interest in the company’s operational progress at the Mbe site.
Market participants have responded to the reported exploration outcomes as the company advances toward the next stages of project development. Further drilling outcomes, once completed, are expected to support future updates related to geological modelling and mineral estimates.
Next Steps in Project Development
The current phase of exploration at Mbe is focused on generating a comprehensive dataset that will support the compilation of a formal Mineral Resource Estimate. The wide mineralised zones observed at MB01-S, combined with near-surface gold intervals, are being examined for their suitability in future development scenarios.
Ongoing drill programmes are anticipated to add further clarity to the continuity and volume of gold-bearing structures within the licence area. These technical findings will form the basis for future planning related to exploration and evaluation stages.
