US Markets: Broader indices in the United States traded in green - particularly, the S&P 500 index traded 32.64 points or 0.89 per cent higher at 3,696.10, Dow Jones Industrial Average Index surged by 242.99 points or 0.81 per cent higher at 30,289.36, and the technology benchmark index Nasdaq Composite traded higher at 12,535.76, up by 157.89 points or 1.28 per cent against the previous day close (at the time of writing, before the US market close at 10:45 AM ET).
US Market News: The key indices of Wall Street traded in green reflecting positive investor sentiments riding on the hopes of Covid-19 vaccine. Among the gaining stocks, Alexion soared up by around 31% after the company received a bid of $39 billion from AstraZeneca. Pfizer stock gained around 1.3% as its Covid-19 vaccine will be provided to the US population starting this week. Among the declining stocks, shares of SolarWinds fell by close to 10.0% after the IT firm said that it had hit a manual supply chain attack by the nation state. Alphabet shares dropped by around 0.4% after the company’s services were down for thousands of users across the globe.

European News: The London and European markets traded in the green amid the news of an extension of Brexit agreement. Among the gaining stocks, Polypipe went up by around 12.69% after the company announced that annual profit would beat expectations. Shares of Sareum Holdings soared up by 23.08% driven by the news that TYK2 is identified as a causative genetic mechanism for Covid-19. Natwest Group rose about 7.25% and gained the most on the FTSE-100 index. Among the decliners, AstraZeneca was down by about 7.38% after the company said that it was purchasing US drug developer, Alexion Pharmaceuticals. Dignity slipped by around 6.06% after its finance director resigned from the board.
