FTSE-250 Index Accelerated by 0.24%; Shares of Stagecoach Group Edged Higher by 13.49%

US Markets: Broader indices in the United States traded in red - particularly, the S&P 500 index traded 10.66 points or 0.31 per cent lower at 3,473.15, Dow Jones Industrial Average Index contracted by 72.02 points or 0.25 per cent lower at 28,534.29, and the technology benchmark index Nasdaq Composite traded lower at 11,660.63, down by 10.93 points or 0.09 per cent against the previous day close (at the time of writing, before the US market close at 11:50 AM ET). 

US Market News: The key indices of the US market traded in red on Monday. The Wells Fargo Housing Market index moved to 85 in October that indicated a positive homebuilder sentiment. Among the gaining stocks, AMC Entertainment surged by approximately 22.3% after it would open theatres in New York from 23 October. American Airlines was up by 2.4% after it is planning to return to service for its currently grounded Boeing. Shares of Philips were up by around 2.3% after it reported better than expected quarterly earnings. Halliburton rose by about 1.9% after it reported quarterly earnings per share of 11 USD cents. ConocoPhillips was up by close to 0.3% after it agreed to buy Concho Resources, which moved up by around 0.8%. Among the decliners, UnitedHealth Group was down by close to 1.1% on the Dow 30 index. Kinross Gold slipped by about 0.3% as it is planning to sell North and South American mines.

European News: The London and European markets traded in the red as the lockdown worries continue to weigh down. As per the industry expert’s data, the footfall for the week ended 17 October 2020 fell by 3.1% week on week. Among the gaining stocks, 88 Energy gained by approximately 12.6% after it reported good progress on project Peregrine farm-out deal. Rightmove shares rose by nearly 1.6% as it led the FTSE-100 gain. Aviva was up by around 0.1% after it made an application to the LSE and UK listing authority to list 9.5 million shares. Among the downward trending stocks, Johnson Matthey declined by 2.6% as it fell the most on the FTSE-100 index. ContourGlobal was down by about 0.9%, although it announced that its 2020 performance remains on track. IQGeo fell by close to 0.5% after it announced the contract extension for a software license for a utility provider.
