Highlights

  • March is a good month for dividend payouts.
  • Investors who track dividends must know that several record dates and payment dates are in March.
  • Companies have rewarded their shareholders with interim and final dividends.

Dividends are a reliable source of income from a stock invested in a company. In fact, some investors cherry-pick the best dividend-paying companies to invest in, rather than growth-oriented companies. Dividends are considered a source of consistent and sustainable investment for investors. Therefore, dividend announcements are often closely followed by investors.

Dividend-paying companies are often mature and legacy companies but can also be small-cap companies with good cash reserves. However, dividend payments should not be used as a yardstick to judge how well the company is performing on the NZX.
