Fall in Export Meat Prices During March 2020 Quarter

As per the Stats NZ report, export prices for meat that includes beef and lamb fell in the March 2020 quarter. Business prices delivery manager Geoff Wong said that the fall in prices coincided with the global pandemic outbreak during the same month.

The coronavirus outbreak impacted the demand in export markets and disrupted supply chains like air freight and sea. The export lamb prices fell by 10 per cent and beef by 5.8 per cent after the record-high levels of export prices experienced during the end of 2019.
