Blackline Safety Corp. (TSX:BLN), a global leader in connected safety technology, has announced a $1.6 million deal with Total Safety, a prominent provider of integrated industrial safety solutions. Under the agreement, Total Safety will purchase over 100 of Blackline’s next-generation EXO 8 portable area monitors, which will be integrated into Total Safety’s rental fleet. These monitors will play a critical role in safeguarding workers during high-stakes operations, including refinery and petrochemical turnarounds.

A turnaround is a scheduled event where industrial plants are shut down to perform essential inspections, maintenance, and upgrades. These events often involve significant safety risks, which makes reliable and real-time gas detection equipment essential to maintaining a safe work environment. The EXO 8, which was unveiled in September 2024 at the National Safety Council (NSC) Safety Congress & Expo in Orlando, Florida, is designed to meet these demands with its cutting-edge technology.

Robbie Payne, Senior Vice President of Operations at Total Safety, highlighted the importance of the EXO 8 in ensuring worker safety during critical industrial operations. "At Total Safety, our mission is to ensure the safe Wellbeing of Workers Worldwide (W3) and provide customers with the most effective solutions for safeguarding their teams during high-stakes operations like refinery and petrochemical turnarounds," Payne said. He further explained that Total Safety chose the EXO 8 due to its advanced cloud connectivity, long battery life, and capability to monitor up to eight gases in real time—features that make it ideal for large industrial operations.

The EXO 8 portable area monitor continuously checks the air in its vicinity to detect dangerous gases or radiation that are invisible or undetectable by humans. The monitor is the only direct-to-cloud area monitor capable of simultaneously detecting up to eight gases and gamma radiation, making it a highly versatile and powerful tool for monitoring hazardous environments. Now in full-scale production and shipping globally, the EXO 8 has already garnered significant interest, securing major orders from industry leaders such as Total Safety.

This deal highlights the EXO 8’s appeal in a variety of industries, including oil and gas, petrochemical, mining, water and wastewater management, and homeland security sectors. The EXO 8 is particularly suited for high-risk environments where rapid response to hazardous materials is necessary to ensure the safety of workers, first responders, and the public.

Cody Slater, CEO and Chair of Blackline Safety, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership with Total Safety. "EXO 8 represents a significant leap forward in safety technology," Slater said. "Worker safety is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re thrilled to see an industry leader like Total Safety adopt our new EXO 8 area monitors to protect workers during such critical operations. It’s partnerships like this that enable us to put our cutting-edge solutions into the hands of those who need them most, ensuring safer workplaces around the globe."

The collaboration between Blackline Safety and Total Safety represents a significant step forward in improving industrial safety standards. With the introduction of the EXO 8, workers in high-risk environments will have access to the latest safety technology, ensuring a higher level of protection against dangerous gases and other hazards. This deal also underscores Blackline Safety’s commitment to providing innovative solutions that enhance safety and well-being in critical industries.
