Shares of this biotechnology company surged after releasing positive preliminary data from an ongoing study of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS).
Trading volume ballooned to 159 million shares as compared to 10-day average volume of 4 million and 30-day average volume of 1.67 million.
Curis Study Results
In an official statement, the biotechnology firm claimed that its Phase 1 dose escalation study of CA-4948 among AML and MDS patients produced positive results.
The CA-4948 targets a small molecule -- IRAK4 kinase inhibitor, which acts like a toll-like receptor (TLR) and interleukin-1 receptor (IL-1R) signaling pathways. The therapy caused consistent reduction of marrow blast reductions in trial patients.
Curis Stock Performance & Financial Outlook
The biotech stock has sprinted by over 459 per cent in the last one month and gained 388 per cent in last six months. Its current price to cash flow ratio is 36.4, while return on equity is 113.5 per cent, as per TMX data. However, the stock holds a negative return on assets of 70.49 per cent.
Its current market cap is $371 million.
The company’s quarterly revenue (for the period ending September 30, 2020) was $2.7 million while gross profit was $2.6 million. Cash and cash equivalents as of November 30, 2020, stood at $26.3 million.
The company is also developing CI-8993, for treatment of cancers driven by VISTA-mediated Immune Suppression via both monotherapy and combination therapy.
