Highlights
- Extensive RC Drilling Campaign: Yandal begins a 2,500-meter RC drilling program at the Siona gold discovery to map mineralisation.
- Promising Early Intercepts: Initial results revealed gold grades up to 78 meters at 1.2 g/t and 14 meters at 1.8 g/t, hinting at a significant find.
- Busy Year-End Schedule: Multiple exploration updates are expected, with key results anticipated from various projects over the next six weeks.
Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has embarked on an ambitious exploration campaign at its Siona gold discovery, located within licence E53/1843, part of the broader Ironstone Well–Barwidgee (IWB) Gold Project. This 12-hole, 2,500-metre reverse circulation (RC) drilling program aims to expand on promising early results and delineate the extent of gold mineralisation.
Strategic Drilling Effort
The Siona Prospect lies within the mineral-rich Yandal Greenstone Belt, situated 45 kilometers north of Northern Star Ltd’s Bronzewing mining center and 75 kilometers south of the Jundee mining center. The drilling program is designed to investigate the geometry and scale of gold mineralisation at Siona.
RC holes are being strategically positioned to test up and down dip from previously encouraging intercepts, including 78 meters at 1.2 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 96 meters to the end of hole 24IWBRC0039, and 14 meters at 1.8 g/t gold from 63 meters in hole 24IWBRC0044. Notably, these mineralised zones remain open down hole, down dip, and along strike, suggesting significant exploration potential.
Additionally, the company will drill further holes to explore the mineralised system's extent along strike to the northwest and southeast, with the aim of fully mapping the gold mineralisation at Siona. If initial results and geological observations are positive, Yandal may expand the drilling program with additional holes.
Broader Exploration Initiatives
Parallel to the Siona RC campaign, Yandal has recently completed an air-core drilling program targeting the Caladan and Irulan areas within the IWB Gold Project. This work highlights the company’s broader commitment to unlocking the mineral potential across the New England Granite (NEG) and surrounding areas.
Expected Results and Busy Year-End
The RC drilling at Siona is projected to conclude within two weeks, with preliminary results expected by mid-to-late November. In a flurry of upcoming exploration news, Yandal plans to deliver updates from several key initiatives:
- New England Granite RC Drilling: Final outcomes from the October campaign are expected within two weeks.
- Air-Core Drilling Results: Insights from the Caladan and Irulan target areas are anticipated within four to six weeks.
- Follow-Up RC Drilling at Siona: Initial findings from this program are expected within the next two to three weeks.
- Soil Sampling Program: Results from phase two of soil sampling at the Caladan target area are also expected soon.
Outlook
Yandal Resources is gearing up for a pivotal end to 2024, with a robust exploration agenda that could reshape the potential of its gold projects. As multiple data points are set to emerge, investors will be keenly awaiting these results, which could underscore the significance of the Siona gold discovery and the broader exploration landscape within the Yandal Greenstone Belt.
