Strategic Energy Resources Advances South Cobar Project with Expanded Drilling Program

Strategic Energy Resources (ASX:SER) is advancing its South Cobar project, situated on the eastern margin of the Rast Trough at the southern end of the Cobar Basin, a renowned polymetallic region in Australia. This project encompasses tenements that extend along the Woorara fault, aligning with Eastern Metals' (ASX:EMS) Brown's Reef deposit. Additionally, the Achilles prospect is located on the Achilles Shear Zone, with Australian Gold & Copper's (ASX:AGC) Achilles 3 discovery situated approximately 7 kilometers to the north.

Drilling Permit and Upcoming Program

During the recent quarter, SER submitted an application for a drilling permit to the NSW Department. The application is for a 40-hole reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign aimed at investigating a significant polymetallic soil anomaly identified through historical data.

Encouraging results from recent drilling by Australian Gold & Copper—yielding up to 5 meters at 16.9 g/t gold, 1,667 g/t silver, 0.4% copper, and 15% lead-zinc—highlight the potential for multiple discoveries within the South Cobar region.

Planned Drilling Activities

With the permit now granted by the NSW Regulator, SER is set to commence an extensive RC drill program. Drilling will begin at the western edge of the southernmost traverse, coinciding with the peak of the soil geochemical anomaly, and will proceed north along successive traverses spaced 300 meters apart. The drilling program is expected to start in the coming weeks and is anticipated to be completed within approximately six weeks.

Historical diamond drilling at the Achilles prospect has indicated that the stratigraphy dips to the east. Recent discoveries at Federation and Achilles 3 suggest that primary mineralization may not always be located directly beneath the highest geochemical anomalies.

Expansion of Drilling Program

SER's managing director, Dr. David DeTata, announced that the initial 25-hole drilling program at the Achilles site has been expanded to up to 40 holes. This expanded program will cover five traverses, extending beyond Achilles Hill, and aims to thoroughly investigate the soil geochemical anomaly. The revised program is designed to accommodate adjustments based on drilling results and avoid further delays in permitting if additional mineralization is encountered.

The upcoming drilling program at South Cobar represents a significant step in exploring and potentially developing this promising polymetallic project.
