Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN), an Australian resource company, is initiating follow-up exploration at the Phat Boy prospect, a key component of its 100%-owned Yidby East Project located in the mid-west of Western Australia. This exploration phase aims to build on the promising results from recent assays that identified significant copper and zinc anomalies.
The renewed exploration focus is driven by notable results from broad spaced soil grid sampling conducted to the east of the company’s primary Yidby gold project. While previous exploration efforts in the region were predominantly concentrated on gold, they did not address the substantial copper and zinc anomalies now observed, which indicate the potential presence of additional mineralization styles.
Four distinct zones of coincident copper and zinc anomalies were delineated along the edge of an inferred shear zone adjacent to an outcropping folded banded iron formation. These zones vary in size from approximately 400 meters by 500 meters to 1 kilometer by 500 meters and are contiguous across sample lines. The geochemical data have revealed significant anomalies on the northern limb of the banded iron formation, drawing comparisons to the renowned Golden Grove Volcanogenic Hosted Massive Sulphide (VHMS) deposit.
The company plans to conduct a comprehensive program of detailed soil sampling, rock chip sampling, and geological mapping over the identified target zones within the next week. The goal is to refine these anomalies and establish precise drill targets for further exploration.
In addition to the exploration activities, Surefire Resources NL has submitted an application for funding under the West Australian Government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme. This application seeks co-funding for exploration drilling that will both validate the geological model of a VHMS setting and explore the geochemical targets derived from the recent follow-up sampling.
Paul Burton, Managing Director of Surefire Resources NL (ASX), expressed enthusiasm about the results, stating, “The tenor and coincidence of the copper and zinc results are very anomalous and enhance the prospectivity of our Yidby Project tenements.” He highlighted the analogies to the Golden Grove deposit and the potential for significant mineralization beneath the surface, with anomalies extending up to 500 meters by 1 kilometer.
Burton further noted that the forthcoming phase of sampling will be crucial in refining the anomalies and defining drill targets. “The team here at Surefire is very excited about the prospectivity of this area, which could evolve into a major project for the company,” he said. While the primary focus remains on advancing the flagship Victory Bore project, the company is committed to adding value to its other projects through rigorous on-ground exploration.
Surefire Resources NL (ASX) continues to leverage its expertise and resources to explore and develop its mineral assets. The current exploration and funding efforts underscore the company’s strategic approach to identifying and advancing promising mineral deposits, potentially expanding its resource base and enhancing its project portfolio.
