- Focus shifts to high-priority drilling targets near the Aubry deposit.
Green Technology Metals (ASX:GT1) has announced a significant discovery at its Seymour Lithium Project in Ontario, Canada. The company has identified a new pegmatite zone, termed the "North Upper Zone," through its ongoing diamond drilling program. The discovery highlights promising surface mineralisation with lithium content averaging 1.2% over thicknesses ranging from 2.4 to 6.4 metres. This marks a critical step in expanding the potential of the Eastern Hub of the project.
Two shallow drill holes confirmed the continuity of the mineralisation, positioning this zone as a candidate for inclusion in the next mineral resource update. However, deeper drilling in the region yielded thinner and lower-grade intercepts than initially expected. Despite these challenges, Green Technology Metals remains optimistic about the project's long-term exploration potential.
With the Junior drilling program nearing completion, the focus will shift to high-priority targets near the Aubry deposit, where additional opportunities for resource expansion are being evaluated. This aligns with the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its resource base and optimise future mining operations.
Currently, the Seymour Lithium Project has a mineral resource estimate (MRE) of 10.3 million tonnes at 1.03% lithium. This contributes to Green Technology Metals’ total North American resource base, which stands at 24.9 million tonnes at 1.13% lithium. The company is leveraging this resource to position itself as a key player in the lithium market.
Looking ahead, Green Technology Metals is targeting the release of a definitive feasibility study (DFS) for the Seymour project in 2025. The ongoing workstreams supporting this include mine optimisation, geotechnical studies, and metallurgical testing. The company aims to establish itself as Ontario’s first producer of spodumene concentrate and lithium hydroxide, capitalising on its strategic location near Thunder Bay for an integrated production process.
With an experienced management team driving the project forward, Green Technology Metals is well-positioned to contribute significantly to the growing lithium demand, particularly in North America. The discovery of the North Upper Zone underscores the company’s commitment to enhancing its asset portfolio and advancing sustainable lithium production.
