Highlights
- New Spodumene Discovery at Shaakichiuwaanaan
- Extension of Mickel Trend by 1.9 km
- Potential for Additional Discoveries Noted
Patriot Battery Metals Inc. (ASX:PMT) has made a significant stride in its exploration efforts with the unveiling of a new spodumene pegmatite cluster, named CV15, located within its Shaakichiuwaanaan Property in Quebec, Canada. The discovery of CV15 has not only demonstrated high-grade spodumene concentrations but also substantially extends the known mineralization within the property.
The CV15 cluster is characterized by multiple pegmatite outcrops that have been mapped over a considerable area of 400 meters by 200 meters. These outcrops have yielded promising sample assays, including concentrations of 2.11% Li₂O, 1.55% Li₂O, and 1.02% Li₂O. This discovery underscores the fertile nature of the Shaakichiuwaanaan Property and its capacity to host significant lithium resources.
Further enhancing the potential of the property, the CV15 discovery extends the Mickel Trend by about 1.9 kilometers, bringing its total length to approximately 5.5 kilometers. This extension surpasses the previous reach of the CV5 Pegmatite, which spanned 4.6 kilometers, indicating a larger mineralized system than initially estimated.
In addition to the CV15 find, the 2024 exploration campaign has revealed a new LCT pegmatite outcrop, situated roughly 525 meters from the established CV8 Spodumene Pegmatite. Assays from this site reported tantalum concentrations as high as 2,282 ppm Ta₂O₅. This exploration has also resulted in the discovery of multiple spodumene pegmatite boulders northwest and southeast of the CV5 Deposit. These findings suggest the presence of further spodumene pegmatites beneath the glacial till cover, hinting at the extensive underexplored potential of the area.
Darren L. Smith, Vice President of Exploration at Patriot Battery Metals Inc. (PMT), expressed optimism about the results of the surface campaign. He highlighted that the findings from CV15 along the Mickel Trend, which includes clusters CV9, CV10, CV14, and now CV15, represent a significant opportunity to enhance the company's asset base. Smith is enthusiastic about the continuation of systematic surface exploration activities, including channeling and mapping, to further uncover the vast potential of the Mickel Trend.
The ongoing exploration and consistent findings at Shaakichiuwaanaan signal a robust pathway for future discoveries, underpinning the strategic significance of this property in Patriot Battery Metals Inc.'s (PMT) portfolio. The company remains committed to advancing its exploration initiatives and reinforcing its position in the lithium market.
