Terrain Minerals Limited (ASX:TMX) has announced the commencement of air-core (AC) drilling at its fully-owned Wildflower Gold Project, situated in the Murchison gold province of Western Australia. This highly anticipated drilling program marks a significant milestone for the company, as it seeks to further explore and evaluate the potential of this promising gold exploration site.
The AC drilling program is set to encompass approximately 41 holes, totaling around 2,100 meters in depth. The primary objective of this initiative is to target a substantial gold-in-soil anomaly identified within the project area. This anomaly spans an impressive 1,000 meters by 500 meters and has yielded peak values of 246 parts per billion (ppb) of gold, underscoring the area's potential for gold mineralization.
Historical drilling efforts at the Wildflower Gold Project have already provided encouraging results, adding to the excitement surrounding the current program. Notably, a rotary air blast (RAB) hole designated as MM110 previously returned 15 meters at a grade of 1.49 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold from a depth of 10 meters. This significant intercept is located within the extensive surface geochemical anomaly, suggesting that gold mineralization could be more widespread in the area than previously understood.
Additionally, the only reverse circulation (RC) hole drilled at the Wildflower site, labeled MMRC001, returned a notable 5 meters at 1.03 g/t gold from a depth of 100 meters. These historical results, combined with the current drilling efforts, point to a favorable geological setting that could support further gold discoveries.
The Wildflower Gold Project's promising geological characteristics and historical data indicate a significant potential for gold mineralization. As Terrain Minerals embarks on this drilling campaign, the company remains optimistic about the prospects of uncovering substantial gold deposits within the project area. The combination of advanced exploration techniques and a rich geological background places Terrain Minerals in a strong position to capitalize on the opportunities presented by this project.
