Highlights

  • Massive sulphide intercept found at Oval Copper-Nickel-PGE Project in Mongolia.
  • Mineralisation hints at flat orientation, extending along the strike of the intrusion.
  • Further assays and resource modelling underway, results expected soon.

Asian Battery Metals (ASX:AZ9) has announced significant advancements at its Oval Copper-Nickel-PGE Project on the Yambat property in Mongolia. Drill hole OVD027 has revealed another massive sulphide intercept, building on earlier findings at this promising site.

The intercept in OVD027 lies north of a previous one in OVD021, indicating that the mineralised body has a flat orientation aligned with the strike of the Oval intrusive feature. Key intercepts include 6.1 metres of massive sulphide at a depth of 98.2 metres and 12.1 metres of net-textured sulphide at 104.3 metres.

Geological Insights

Drill hole OVD027 targeted a down-hole electromagnetic (DHEM) conductor plate, identified as OVD022_B, with a conductance of 8,247 siemens. This drilling revealed 91.8 metres of combined mineralisation, comprising massive, dense disseminated, and net-textured sulphide patterns. The breakdown of this mineralisation includes 6.1 metres of massive sulphides and 12.1 metres of net-textured sulphides within a larger mineralised zone.

The true thickness of the massive sulphide is estimated to be approximately 5.4 metres. Analysis confirms that the massive sulphide intercepts in OVD027 and OVD021 belong to the same mineralised body. These findings suggest a shallow dip towards the south or southeast, contributing to a clearer understanding of the mineralised zone's geometry.

Progress and Future Plans

Asian Battery Metals has completed six drill holes as part of its 2024 Phase 2 drilling campaign, including OVD027. Geological and geophysical studies are now in progress to define the mineralisation’s grade, extent, and orientation. All assays are expected to be finalised within the coming weeks, and results will guide further drilling and resource modelling efforts.

The company’s managing director highlighted the importance of these results in understanding the higher-grade mineralisation within the Oval gabbroic intrusion. With ongoing assays and modelling, there is optimism for identifying additional high-grade targets. These findings mark a significant step forward for the project, underscoring its potential as a valuable resource.

Asian Battery Metals is preparing for the next phase of exploration as it awaits assay results and modelling outcomes. The company aims to provide updates as these critical milestones are achieved, paving the way for further exploration and development.
