Asian Battery Metals (ASX:AZ9) has significantly expanded the exploration scope of its Yambat Project in Mongolia following the discovery of a new ultramafic-gabbroic intrusion at the MS1 target. Located just 6 kilometres southeast of the company’s key Oval copper-nickel prospect, this find adds compelling evidence to the project's growing scale and geological richness.

Initial scout drilling at the MS1 target intersected a thick ultramafic rock unit beneath 130 metres of sedimentary cover. Notably, drillhole SC07 recorded a broad 86.2-metre interval of weak sulphide mineralisation, featuring disseminated chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, and pyrite from 168 metres depth. A downhole electromagnetic (EM) survey further identified a high-conductance plate east of the hole, suggesting substantial mineralisation potential in the immediate area.

A ground-based SAMSON EM survey was quickly mobilised to cover the broader MS1 zone. The results point toward the existence of multiple mineralised zones and enhance the geological case for a district-scale system at Yambat.

Parallel Structures Offer Additional Promise

At the nearby MS2 target, scout drillhole SC06 encountered gabbroic rocks that bear strong geological similarities to unmineralised zones at the Oval prospect. Crucially, the presence of spotted slate—associated with contact metamorphism seen at Oval—suggests a structural connection between MS1, MS2, and Oval, possibly forming a parallel mineralised corridor.

Ongoing geophysical activities, including magnetic and induced polarisation (IP) surveys, aim to unravel these structural relationships and refine target generation across the tenement.

Other Prospects Under Review

Asian Battery Metals is also actively working at the Copper Ridge prospect within the Yambat Project area. While follow-up holes CRS02 and CRS03 targeted extensions of earlier copper and gold intercepts, they delivered limited mineralisation. Further geophysical surveys are being scheduled to better pinpoint high-priority zones.

Path Forward

Assay results from Phase 3 drilling across the Yambat Project are anticipated later this month. In tandem, the company is progressing metallurgical test work and advancing exploration surveys to unlock the district's broader potential.

With multiple mineralised targets now emerging beyond the Oval prospect, Asian Battery Metals appears well-positioned to uncover a potentially large-scale, polymetallic system within its Mongolian asset base.
