  • Tryptamine Therapeutics completes safety evaluation of TRP-8803.
  • The trial showed positive safety results with IV-infused psilocin treatment.
  • The company now looks toward further clinical studies with Phase 2 trials.

Tryptamine Therapeutics Ltd (ASX:TYP) has achieved a significant milestone in the development of its intravenous (IV) psilocin formulation, TRP-8803. The company recently completed the safety evaluation for TRP-8803 in a Phase 1b clinical trial, indicating that the treatment was generally well-tolerated. This success allows the company to move forward with more advanced clinical studies in the near future.

The trial, which started in June 2024, was conducted at CMAX Clinical Research in Adelaide, Australia. Over the course of the study, eleven healthy participants received various doses of the psilocin treatment, administered through an IV infusion that lasted up to 150 minutes. The study was designed to evaluate the safety profile of TRP-8803 in a controlled clinical setting.

Following the trial’s conclusion, the results demonstrated that TRP-8803 is safe, with participants tolerating the treatment well. This positive outcome is a key development in Tryptamine Therapeutics’ clinical program. The results from this trial will help guide the design and implementation of the company's upcoming Phase 2 trials, bringing the company closer to further advancements in its therapeutic offerings.

Building on the success of its earlier oral formulation, TRP-8802, Tryptamine Therapeutics is aiming to use TRP-8803 to provide certain advantages over traditional oral psilocybin treatments. The IV-infused version offers a faster onset of effects, a shorter duration of action, and better control over the therapeutic experience, which could potentially enhance patient outcomes. The company’s earlier formulation, TRP-8802, has already shown promise in treating conditions such as Binge Eating Disorder and Fibromyalgia.

As the company continues to push forward, the next steps will involve further clinical trials for TRP-8803. These upcoming trials are expected to explore more therapeutic applications while engaging with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with all necessary guidelines. Tryptamine Therapeutics remains focused on expanding its research into innovative treatments, potentially bringing new options to patients in need of more controlled and efficient therapies.
