Cleo Diagnostics (ASX:COV) has expanded its ongoing clinical trial for an innovative ovarian cancer detection method by including the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne as a participating site. This inclusion marks a pivotal step in the company’s mission to develop a simple and effective blood test for detecting ovarian cancer, addressing a critical gap in early diagnosis.

The Royal Women’s Hospital, recognized as Australia’s leading specialist institution for women’s health, brings considerable value to this initiative. It will significantly broaden the patient cohort available for the trial while increasing awareness about both the trial and Cleo Diagnostics’ efforts. Notably, Associate Professor Orla McNally, a renowned gynecological oncology expert and the hospital’s Director of Oncology, has taken the lead role as the trial's principal investigator.

Commenting on the trial's potential, Associate Professor McNally emphasized the urgency of improving diagnostic methods for ovarian cancer, highlighting the importance of early and precise detection in addressing unmet clinical needs. She noted that Cleo Diagnostics’ innovative blood test could optimize clinical workflows and lead to better outcomes for women.

The Australian trial complements Cleo’s ongoing U.S. trial, designed to meet regulatory requirements for a future submission to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The U.S. initiative is progressing steadily, with patient recruitment underway across eight sites, involving an anticipated total of 500 participants. The company remains on track for the planned submission in 2025.

Cleo Diagnostics’ trial at the Royal Women’s Hospital underscores the company’s dedication to advancing healthcare innovation. This partnership is expected to not only contribute to research and development but also amplify market awareness about the potential impact of Cleo’s diagnostic test.

The company’s focus on offering a minimally invasive and efficient solution to ovarian cancer detection addresses a longstanding challenge in women’s healthcare. With its ongoing efforts in both domestic and international trials, Cleo Diagnostics is paving the way for advancements that could transform clinical practices and improve patient outcomes on a global scale.

The collaboration between Cleo Diagnostics and the Royal Women’s Hospital reaffirms the critical role of innovation and partnership in tackling major health challenges, offering hope for enhanced early detection solutions for ovarian cancer.
