Nickel, copper and cobalt exploration company, Galileo Mining Ltd (ASX:GAL) has announced promising soil sampling analysis results from its wholly-owned Norseman project.
Soil sampling analysis was primarily intended to provide information on Nickel sulphide mineralisation prospects. These results will be integrated with other geological, geophysical, and hyperspectral data for meaningful analysis and further planning of future exploration.

About Norseman Project
Norseman is a wholly-owned Galileo project that covers an area of 278 square km. Galileo owns two exploration licenses, 18 prospecting licenses and one mining lease in the project area and is operating the project since 2006. The area lies at the southern flank of Norseman-Wiluna greenstone belt. The project contains resource potential for Nickel, Copper, Cobalt, Lithium and Gold.

Operational Highlights
A total of 1,726 soil samples from 1,620 unique sample locations were collected till 15 December 2020 for multi-element assessment. Areas with high Nickel prospects were selected for sample locations.

Laboratory assessment and interpretation has been carried out in soil samples. The samples were analysed based on average crustal abundance, which showed promising results. Basalt showed maximum assay for Nickel to be 3,945ppm. Platinum, palladium, copper and gold reported a maximum assay of 173ppb, 314ppb, 640ppm and 83ppb respectively.

The preliminary sample analysis's main objective was to demarcate the anomalous data sets that can be considered for integration with other data sets to draw some meaningful results for proper planning of future phase of project development.
The Way Ahead
To further integrate soil sample interpretation results with other exploration data sets using machine learning and AI technology to get new insights for drilling target demarcation. A German based remote sensing and data integration specialist, DiMap Spectral GmbH was provided the contract to collect and interpret multispectral, hyperspectral data.
Data collection through an airborne survey is completed and ready to remote sensing mineral analysis. Post which, the data will be used to integrate with other drilling and exploration datasets to develop a mineral prospectivity map using machine learning procedures.
