  • Exclusive 5-year recycling pact established.
  • Enhanced circular economy for battery management.
  • Expanded sustainable energy solutions network.

Livium Ltd (ASX:LVL) has announced a landmark five-year agreement with ZECO Energy Pty Ltd (ASX:ZECO) to manage the recycling of lithium-ion batteries, marking a significant step toward sustainable energy solutions. The deal, which commenced on February 19, 2025, reflects both companies' dedication to advancing environmental sustainability and bolstering the circular economy within the energy storage industry.

Under the terms of the agreement, Envirostream Australia Pty Ltd—a wholly owned subsidiary of Livium—is tasked with handling the end-of-life battery packs sourced from ZECO Energy’s expansive network. These battery packs, used in both residential and commercial energy storage systems (ESS), will undergo a comprehensive recycling process. This process includes activities such as sorting, dismantling, discharging, and transportation, ensuring that the batteries are repurposed responsibly and efficiently.

The partnership is designed to generate processing fees for Livium while also opening opportunities for revenue through additional services related to battery recycling. Although the agreement does not set minimum volume commitments, it positions the companies to optimize the handling of battery waste and support broader sustainability goals across the energy sector.

By collaborating on this initiative, Livium and ZECO Energy are reinforcing their commitment to responsible battery management. The recycling process not only mitigates the environmental impact of discarded batteries but also plays a crucial role in conserving valuable resources. The strategic move is aligned with the companies' long-term growth plans, as it expands their capabilities within the circular economy, particularly in the areas of energy storage, e-mobility, and electric vehicles.

ZECO Energy, recognized for its sustainable energy solutions and serving more than 40,000 active customers, is dedicated to ensuring that its battery systems undergo environmentally sound recycling procedures. This exclusive partnership demonstrates a concerted effort to integrate sustainability into every stage of the battery lifecycle—from production and usage to the final stage of recycling.

Livium’s CEO has emphasized the significance of this collaboration as a means to scale up the recycling business and enhance service delivery across diverse markets. The agreement not only secures an important revenue stream for Livium but also sets a new benchmark for responsible recycling practices in Australia’s energy sector.

This pioneering recycling initiative is poised to contribute substantially to environmental sustainability, showcasing how strategic industry partnerships can drive progress toward a greener future.
