Lake Resources NL (ASX:LKE) has reported production of a high quality lithium chloride solution from Kachi brine during the quarter, which was processed by direct lithium extraction (DLE) in the Lilac Solutions’ pilot plant. Subsequently, this solution was treated by Hazen Research Inc. to convert the lithium chloride to high quality, low impurity lithium carbonate.
LKE believes that the disruptive DLE process offered by Lilac Solutions shall help LKE in becoming an efficient, environmentally friendly and cost competitive supplier to produce responsibly sourced, high-purity lithium carbonate.
LKE plans to send lithium carbonate samples to Novonix Battery Technology Solutions (NBTS), which is a subsidiary of Novonix Limited (ASX:NVX) for testing. Novonix is currently developing “million mile” battery technologies with revolutionary anode and cathode material and the testing is expected to take a minimum of four months. Results from this testing are expected two months after the first cathode material is produced.
LKE stands suitably financed for its current plans while discussions with international investment funds are continuing to secure funding for other studies and works to advance the Kachi project.
LKE is trading at A$0.057 on 29 October 2020 at 2:17 PM AEST.
