Cannindah Resources Limited (ASX:CAE) has appointed Cameron Switzer, an accomplished geologist, as the company’s Technical Advisor to the Board and Exploration Manager. With over 35 years of extensive experience in the mining industry, Mr. Switzer brings a wealth of expertise in mineral exploration, resource development, and project evaluation.
Extensive Expertise in Mineral Exploration
Mr. Switzer has worked both internationally and domestically, focusing on copper, gold, and base metals projects. His deep knowledge ofporphyry copper-gold systems, particularly in Queensland, aligns closely with the strategic exploration and development goals of the company’s flagship Mt Cannindah Project.
Proven Track Record in Project Discovery and Advancement
Throughout his career, Mr. Switzer has held key technical and leadership positions, and has a proven track record of discovering and advancing significant mineral deposits.
He held the role of Exploration Manager at APAC Newcrest Mining (PNG & Australia), where he led major exploration programs targeting porphyry copper-gold systems, guiding projects from early-stage exploration through to resource definition. At APAC, he oversaw exploration activities, while playing a pivotal role in the discovery and development of the 8Moz Havieron gold deposit in the Paterson Province.
Global Experience with Leading Mining Companies
As a Principal Geologist for project generation at Newcrest and Newmont Mining (following Newmont’s acquisition of Newcrest), he contributed to the Newmont Copper Study, evaluating global copper opportunities. He also mentored and trained teams on porphyry systems at Cadia and IRGS systems at Boddington, while assessing prospects across various regions, including APAC, Asia, Europe, the USA, and Latin America.
Strategic Role at Cannindah Resources
In his new role at CAE, Mr Switzer will report directly to Managing Director Tom Pickett. He will provide strategic guidance on exploration programs, drilling campaigns, and resource expansion initiatives. His expertise will be crucial in advancing the Mount Cannindah Project and maximising the potential of the company’s extensive tenement holdings.
