Ark Mines Ltd (ASX:AHK), an ASX-listed mineral exploration player, has been continuing its exploration activities at the company’s highly prospective  Gunnawarra Nickel-Cobalt Project located in North Queensland.

In a recent update, the company announced the successful completion of the second phase of drilling at the project.

Drilling program overview

The drilling program comprised 28 holes for a total of 844m of reverse circulation drilling over an area ~600m across. The average hole depth stood at 30m, while the deepest hole was drilled to a depth of 59m.

The program focused on known Ni-Co mineralisation in the shallow laterites in addition to the other potential mineralisation in some step-out locations. It encountered lateritic material in many places to the west and the south-east of the previously drilled mineralisation.

Ark has submitted the collected samples for assaying and expects to receive the results within two weeks. Ark will apply these results, along with the first phase drilling results, to report the maiden mineral resource estimate for the Gunnawarra project.

Till now, Ark has cumulatively drilled 2,604m at Gunnawarra, with further drilling anticipated, subject to weather conditions.
