Nexus Minerals completed RC drilling at the Payns Prospect with widespread gold mineralisation
Bowl-shaped structure confirmed, contrasting with other Wallbrook prospects
One-metre assays and additional drilling across nearby targets planned
Nexus Minerals Ltd (ASX:NXM), listed on the ASX 300, has reported positive results from its maiden reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Payns Prospect, part of the Wallbrook Gold Project in Western Australia. The company is continuing exploration activities across the broader Wallbrook tenure and preparing for next-phase drilling.
RC Program Confirms Continuity at Depth
The company’s RC drilling initiative followed previous aircore programs that identified mineralisation in a previously untested zone. Nexus Minerals confirmed that of the 46 holes drilled at Payns, nearly all intersected gold-bearing structures, indicating consistent mineralisation. The drilling extended from the oxide layer into fresh rock, highlighting geological continuity at depths previously unexplored.
The mineralised zone spans a broad footprint, with intersected gold veins described as dipping inward from both flanks of the prospect. This bowl-shaped structural feature contrasts with the sub-vertical orientation typically seen in other areas of Wallbrook. Hematite alteration observed at depth has been identified as a key geological indicator, possibly linked to feeder zones.
Multi-Element Geochemistry to Guide Future Work
The company is now focused on collecting one-metre assay samples to further analyse the grade distribution and geological features within the prospect. Nexus has incorporated 66-element geochemistry into its exploration framework, using multi-element data to refine targeting and vector drilling more effectively.
One-metre assay results are expected to be delivered in August. These results will play a key role in shaping follow-up drill campaigns and geological modelling of the Payns system.
Broader Exploration Strategy in Progress
Beyond Payns, Nexus Minerals has outlined a multi-faceted exploration plan across additional prospects including Godfrey, Clement, and AMC 4.1. Site preparations are currently underway, with drilling at these locations expected to commence in the near term. Each target has been prioritised based on geophysical interpretations and previous surface exploration.
Simultaneously, the company is advancing development efforts at the Temple resource area. This includes finalising permitting, closure strategies, and evaluating potential mining pathways through contractor partnerships. The blend of exploration and project development underscores a broad operational focus at Wallbrook.
Outlook for Ongoing Activity
Nexus Minerals’ current fieldwork reflects a broader commitment to defining gold mineralisation across its tenements in the Wallbrook region. The integration of deeper RC drilling, geochemical analysis, and a broader drill schedule positions the company for a sustained exploration effort, contributing to its overall project pipeline within the ASX 300 mining cohort.
