Highlights:

  • Independent study outlines strong economics for the Tanbreez Rare Earth Project in Greenland

  • Project backed by long-term mining approval, covering key magnet rare earth elements

  • Production strategy focuses on concentrate export with future downstream processing planned

The rare earth sector continues to attract attention with the release of a new Scoping Study for the Tanbreez Rare Earth Project, linked to European Lithium Ltd (ASX:EUR) ; (OTCQB:EULIF). This development project, situated in southern Greenland, is progressing under a long-term exploitation permit and focuses on producing rare earth elements essential to permanent magnet manufacturing.

Rare earths such as neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium, and terbium are vital inputs for clean energy technologies, automotive applications, and electronics. The Tanbreez Project is positioned to extract these resources from eudialyte ore within the kakortokite host rock, a large-scale igneous formation known for its enriched mineral content.

Independent Scoping Study Supports Viable Long-Term Operation

A Scoping Study carried out by an independent consultancy outlines a standalone economic case for the project. The study is based exclusively on the Indicated Mineral Resource classification, without including the Inferred Resource category, ensuring clarity around its current extraction plan.

The mining strategy spans a lengthy operational timeframe, focusing on the production of eudialyte concentrate from a substantial resource base. Extraction will occur within a licensed area measuring several square kilometres, supported by a government-issued exploitation licence valid for multiple decades.

Importantly, the concentrate is expected to be shipped to processing facilities located in either the United States or Europe, leaving chemical refining outside the scope of the current study. This setup allows for upstream production without direct involvement in downstream processing activities.

Government Approval Reinforces Project’s Development Pathway

The Tanbreez Project benefits from a secure regulatory foundation through a valid exploitation permit issued by the Government of Greenland. This licence provides the right to extract a diverse range of rare earths, in addition to elements such as zirconium and niobium.

Environmental characteristics of the site, including minimal uranium and thorium content, enhance community engagement and facilitate regulatory compliance. These aspects contribute to the project's alignment with jurisdictional environmental standards.

The rare earth mineralisation is concentrated within the kakortokite geological unit, which extends over a wide area and significant thickness, offering high-grade mineral zones. The extraction model is based on a life-of-mine mining rate that supports continuous operations over an extended period.

Revenue Profile Driven by Magnet Rare Earth Content

The standout feature of the Tanbreez concentrate is its high composition of magnet rare earth oxides. The dominant presence of neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium, and terbium in the output mix positions the project strategically within critical supply chains for permanent magnets.

These magnet-related elements form the majority share of the concentrate’s value, offering a focused revenue stream within the broader rare earth market. The concentrate’s rare earth composition aligns with global priorities to secure supply for clean energy and high-tech applications.

This development milestone further strengthens the relevance of ASX Mining Stocks such as European Lithium Ltd (ASX:EUR), particularly in regions aiming to expand domestic critical minerals capabilities. The upcoming Pre-Feasibility Study is expected to build upon the initial findings and support the advancement of the project’s next stages.
