ABS' Annual Insights Into The Australian Economy

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) published the Australian System of National Accounts data on 25 October 2019, posting-

  • Economic Growth of 1.9% in 2018-19 compared to 2.9% in 2017-18.
  • Mining, Financial & Insurance Services, Construction and Health Care & Social Assistance, were the largest sectors constituting over 30% of the economy. Particularly, mining industry continued to expand.
  • Household net-worth was at $ 10.5 trillion from $ 47.7 billion, marking the smallest increase in a decade.
  • Broad-based fall of 0.2% in labour productivity in 2018-19 (the first since 2010-11).
