How are GOOGL & AAPL stocks faring?

GOOGL and AAPL are two formidable stocks in the US equity market. They are mega companies that rule the roost across the globe. However, 2022 was not favorable for the stock markets worldwide, with investors losing major wealth throughout the year. So, these two companies also had to face similar predicaments due to market volatility.

Here, we take a look at their performances in the latest quarters:

Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL) 

Alphabet is a US multinational holding company, a tech conglomerate headquartered in California. It was created in 2015 by a rejig of Google, making it the parent company of Google and its other subsidiaries.

Alphabet has an EPS of 5.03 and a P/E ratio of 19.80. The company announced revenue of US$ 69,092 million in the third quarter of 2022 compared to US$ 65,118 million in the same period in 2021.

The net income of Google’s parent company in Q3 2022 was US$ 13,910 million versus US$ 18,936 million in the year-ago quarter.

The diluted EPS of the company in the reported quarter of 2022 was US$ 1.06 compared to US$ 1.40 in the third quarter of 2021.

The TAC (traffic acquisition cost) in Q3 2022 was US$ 11,826 million versus US$ 11,498 million in Q3 2021. As per TradingView, the GOOGL stock had gained 10.9 per cent year-to-date (YTD) as of writing.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL)

Apple Inc. is a US multinational technology company based out of Cupertino, California. It is primarily known for its flagship smartphone iPhone series, and other gadgets, which are equally in demand worldwide.

Apple Inc. has a dividend yield of 0.652 per cent and paid a quarterly dividend of US$ 0.23 per share.

In its Q4 2022 results, Apple posted record revenue of US$ $90.1 billion, which is an eight per cent growth from the previous year. The EPS share in the reported quarter of 2022 was US$ 1.29, up four per cent compared to the year-ago quarter. The annual revenue was reported at US$ 394.3 billion.  

According to TradingView data, the AAPL stock surged a little over 12 per cent YTD at the time of writing.
