[Amazon prime boxes and envelopes delivered to a front door of residential building] Daria Nipot Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/AMZN]) unveiled three AI innovations to provide real-world value for its customers, employees, and delivery partners. The company introduced [https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/operations/amazon-ai-innovations-delivery-forecasting-robotics] Wellspring, a generative AI mapping technology; an AI-powered demand forecasting model that is powering Amazon’s supply chain; and new agentic AI capabilities for robotics. The customers will see more accurate delivery locations, faster shipping options, and improved availability of the products they want, and when they want them. Wellspring uses generative AI to improve delivery location accuracy. The new system harnesses data from several sources, including satellite imagery, road networks, building footprints, customer instructions, information from prior deliveries, and street imagery, to create a comprehensive delivery solution for millions of locations.

This technology would help drivers better navigate varied environment like multi-building apartment complexes or brand-new neighborhoods that do not yet appear on navigation apps. In addition, Amazon said that its supply chain has a new foundational AI forecasting model designed to predict what customers will want, where they will want it, and when — for hundreds of millions of products per day. This foundation model adds time-bound data such as weather patterns and holiday schedules to place the right products in the right locations more accurately. The U.S. tech giant also introduced a new agentic AI team within Amazon Robotics which will focus on building an AI framework to facilitate the next step in robotics evolution — adding the ability for robots to hear, understand natural language, reason about it and act autonomously.

By using Vision Language Models and policies that drive robotic actions, instructions can be issued in plain speaking language. The company noted that this will transform systems like Proteus — an autonomous mobile robot that moves customer orders — into versatile assistants capable of moving heavy objects in tight spaces, all while freeing up employees to work on critical-thinking, problem-solving tasks.
