UK Market: The UK stock market turned lower on Thursday. The blue-chip FTSE 100 index was down over 1.5%. Evraz Plc (LON: EVR) was amongst the top losers on the index. The financial regulator, FCA, temporarily suspended trading in the company’s stocks to protect investors. The share price last traded at GBX 82.68 at 11:00 AM GMT+1 when the suspension was announced. The mid-cap focused FTSE 250 index also lost some ground, down by 0.63%.
Spirax-Sarco Engineering Plc (LON: SPX): The engineering solutions company was up by over 5%, with a day’s high of GBX 11,915 after the company announced its full-year results for 2021. The total revenue of Spirax-Sarco was up by over 13% to £1,344.5 million, while operating profits increased by 29% to £320.9 million.
Antofagasta Plc (LON: ANTO): The metal and mining company was up by over 4.3%, with a day’s high of GBX 1,578. The stock price moved up, tracking the copper prices in the international markets, which were up by over 1.78%.
Dekel Agri-vision Plc (LON: DKL): AIM-listed agriculture company’s shares were down by over 10%, with a day’s low of GBX 5.40. The stock price declined after the company announced lower crude palm oil production and sales in February 2022.
US Markets: The US market is likely to open in red, as indicated by the futures indices. S&P 500 future was down by 53 points or 1.25% at 4,222, while the Dow Jones 30 future was lower by 1.25% or 418 points at 32,845. The technology-heavy index Nasdaq Composite future was down by 1.55% at 13,519 (At the time of writing – 8:50 AM ET).
US Market News:
The e-commerce giant, Amazon.com (AMZN) was up by over 5% in the premarket trading session. The company recently announced a USD 10 billion share buyback program for its shareholders, and it plans a 20-for-1 stock split.
The cybersecurity firm, CrowdStrike (CRWD), was up by over 12% in the premarket trading session after the company announced its quarterly results. Its total revenue and profits were better than the market expectations.
