Mark Latham has been accused of "coarsening" NSW politics as pressure builds on him to apologise to a fellow MP over a homophobic tweet.

The NSW One Nation leader has stood by a graphic tweet directed at independent MP Alex Greenwich last month.

It has led to widespread condemnation from across the political spectrum and a threat of legal action.

Alex Greenwich on Monday said he reported online harassment to police, complained of homosexual vilification and sexual harassment with the Anti-Discrimination Board of NSW and flagged a potential defamation suit.

Premier Chris Minns said Mr Latham's behaviour was why Labor wouldn't work with him or his two One Nation colleagues.

"We won't go running to Mark Latham and do deals to get legislation through the upper house," Mr Minns said on Tuesday.

"That's as a result of his repeated coarsening of the politics in NSW."

The government would not be involved in elevating Mr Latham's agenda through the parliament and would not give him any senior positions on committees, Mr Minns said.

The only apology uttered by the NSW One Nation leader on Tuesday appeared laced in sarcasm.

"I'm very sorry for saying I hate the idea of (homosexual sex). Has it become compulsory?" he tweeted.

Mr Latham also characterised an MP's account of experiencing sexual abuse as a "sexual experience" and claimed the media didn't give right-wing politicians like himself a chance to give "their true opinion".

Opposition Leader Mark Speakman has not ruled out working with the controversial MP.

He remained hopeful Mr Latham would apologise for his comments.

"They are unworthy comments of any member of parliament," Mr Speakman said.

"Having said that, the cards I've been dealt are the people who have been elected to parliament.

"I have to work with Animal Justice, Legalise Cannabis, One Nation, Labor, the Greens, the Nationals and I will work with anyone who is in the parliament."

AAP has contacted Mr Latham with numerous requests for comment.
