Aiming at making affordable products by using high-tech scientific know-how

Of late, Cannasouth has undertaken numerous significant research initiatives with the help of the funding received from Callaghan Innovation.

Its R&D team is focused on developing simple and affordable tinctures and extracts with the aid of new technologies.

In this regard, the team is working on identifying new molecules and compounds from cannabis extracts using advanced scientific know-how. Moreover, CBD has collaborated with a university to create biological models to test cannabinoids for the improved management of neuropathic pain, as a significant chunk of the global population is suffering from it and needs such medications to cure or ease suffering.

Ensuring right pre-clinical data and patient cohort for successful clinical trials

Furthermore, as far as clinical trials are concerned, CBD is aiming for successful clinical trial outcomes by using pre-clinical data in the future and ensuring the right trial type, patient group and clinical endpoint.

This will help in getting the requisite product approval and, at the same time, would help in raising funds from agencies like Pharmac, etc., so as to reduce costs for the patients.

Completed commissioning of a cultivation facility

Cannasouth is optimistic about achieving key milestones in the coming months as it aims to enhance its business operations to deliver cost effectiveness to treat specific conditions for local and export markets.

One such significant milestone is the completion of the commissioning of a new state-of-the-art greenhouse and processing facility located in Waikato. The process comprised of an intensive program of testing and certifying high-tech equipment and control systems, thus ensuring the operation of a world-class cultivation facility.
