When a listed stock is removed from a stock exchange platform, it is termed as delisting. It can be voluntary or involuntary and is usually used in a negative sense, for when firms find it difficult to fulfil the requirements to be listed on a stock exchange. In addition, it occurs when a company declares bankruptcy, seeks to become private, ceases operations and announces merger.
