Recently on June 29, 2021, the company dropped ‘energy’ from its name. However, the legal name will continue as Sempra Energy, and its new brand name with the New York Stock Exchange was effective from July 2, 2021. In addition to the rebranding, the ticker symbol on NYSE remained ‘SRE’.
The company deals with the development of the energy infrastructure and provides electricity and gas utility services.

The firm operates and manages all the business activities of IENova through this unit.
Sempra LNG Segment
Sempra LNG is engaged in the development of the pipeline system, natural gas storage systems and related energy infrastructure.
Following a merger between Enova Corporation and Pacific Enterprises, the energy infrastructure and service company was founded in 1998.
Pacific Enterprises and Enova Corporation were the former parent companies of San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Co.
Sempra Energy claims to provide electricity and natural gas-based energy solutions to approximately 36 million consumers globally.
In addition, the company’s portfolio consists of a network of 165,000 miles of electric distribution and transmission lines.
