Founded in 1996, Fidelity Asian Values Plc is a UK-based closed-ended investment trust with an objective to achieve capital growth principally from the stock markets of the Asian region excluding Japan. It aims to exceed its return that its benchmark, the MSCI AC Asia ex Japan Small Cap Index (net) total return. The company has appointed FIL Investment Services (UK) limited as its investment manager. To manage risk the company has to diversify its investment portfolio. No more than 10% of its gross profit should be invested in single or aggregate investment in any one company or other investments and up to 5% of gross asset should be invested in securities that are not listed on stock exchange.
It can’t invest in securities that will get listed on a stock exchange in the foreseeable future. The company may invest up to 15% of gross assets in other investment fund that offer only practicable means of gaining exposure to a particular market in the Asia region, excluding Japan. Within this limit, up to 10% of the gross assets may be invested in funds that do not have stated policies to invest over 15% of their gross assets in other closed-ended funds. Further, maximum 5% of its gross assets can be invested in securities that are not listed or based in the Asian region.
