Founded in 1991, Aberdeen Standard Equity Income Trust is a UK-based closed-ended investment company with an objective to provide shareholders with an above average income from their equity investment, while offering real growth in capital and income. It offers an actively managed portfolio of UK-quoted companies. The company has appointed Aberdeen Standard Fund Manager Limited as its investment manager. The company invest in a diversified portfolio consisting mainly of quoted UK equities which will normally comprise between 50 and 70 individual equity holdings. In order to mitigate risk, the company does not invest over 10% of total assets in any single holding at the time of acquisition and the top ten holdings within the portfolio will not exceed 50% of net assets. The Company may invest in convertible preference shares, convertible loan stocks, gilts, and corporate bonds. According to its gearing policy, the portfolio should operate between holding 5% net cash and 15% net gearing.
